TH Academy 2022: our investment in people

A very important activity for TH Resorts has just concluded at TH Le Castella: the TH Academy, our annual training event.

TH Resorts has decided to invest in people, to grow together and train specialized and versatile profiles that can offer added value and contribute to building a competitive offer. Directors, front office managers, administrative staff, stewards, chefs, bartenders, maitre d’s, team leaders, boutique managers, wellness managers, and housekeeping managers will be operational in the 27 TH and TCI resorts in a few weeks. During the Academy, professionals were supported by 25 trainers working alongside major entities such as La Brigata di Goa (restaurant formats, management, consultancy, and recruiting supporting companies in the hospitality and restaurant world), trainer and mental coach Francesca Trevisi and bar manager Katia Di Nora. The Academy also saw the participation of WMRH, Hospitality Marketing Agency. The agency trained 15 resources who will be responsible for brand reputation.

“At a time when Italy’s tourism, restaurant, and agriculture sectors mourn the absence of seasonal workers, TH organized its annual Academy for a moment of training and innovation, inviting the most important and significant figures in hotel life: from reception to catering, from the kitchen to entertainment and all other essential jobs. Over 450 people participated in this event for more than seven days: people who are the engine for the other 3,500 who will start in a few days across all TH resorts. This week, on Lake Garda, we will also gather another thousand young people aged 16 to 25 who have joined our summer mountain job initiatives. It is a sign of encouragement we want to give to the entire tourism world: enough with complaints and regrets. Our sector rather expects answers and proposals: from training to pay, a leap in quality and innovation is needed, and we expect digital tools to help reduce bureaucracy and grow relationships with all our guests. These days have confirmed, against the trend, that when we value people, guests and staff, a story is born and reborn that can attract new and old generations to the wonderful profession of hospitality. For this reason, our Academy is a living and fundamental part of the Italian School of Hospitality Foundation, which we created together with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, inaugurating, thanks to the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, the first English-language degree in hospitality and hotel management. Around this three-year degree, there is also training and innovation work that can make all sector workers protagonists. There is a human wealth in our work, in old and new generations, capable of enhancing the natural and artistic beauties of our country. For this, I thank all participants in our TH Academy 2022, I thank those who wanted it, prepared and organized it, and those who led it. I am proud to be the president of such people.” TH Group president, Graziano Debellini, summarizes this very important and strategic activity. “The challenge of these days,” says Maria Debellini, team leader of the entertainment and sports area, “is the core of the company: passion and love for hospitality, teamwork, and sharing goals in a professional growth path for all collaborators, ingredients for a winning formula that has worked for 45 years.” Growth that has also involved deep evolutions in entertainment itself. “Today, the team leader’s role is that of the director’s collaborator, responsible for contact and relationship with the guest. We don’t want to fill time slots; every organized activity is an opportunity to establish an authentic relationship with our guests so they remember how we treated them. This applies to both adults and children, from morning to evening. The entertainment session of the Academy involved 200 young people: TH Le Castella became a school, aiming to transmit the basics of this job while simultaneously experiencing moments of a typical day, but also making them have fun and get passionate. We are the reality in Italy with the highest percentage of young people who return here to work the following year.”

“The TH Academies are the realization of the principle of investing in people to create more qualified staff capable of creating added value because the company’s conviction is that the relaunch can and must start precisely from training. Our ultimate goal,” says Lorenzo Bighin, TH central HR and Operations director, “is to serve guests with such care that they can be surprised, feel good, and have a desirable, repeatable experience.”
