Sustainability for TH Resorts

TH Resorts is the first Italian chain of Leisure Hotels that has measured in 2021 the degree of sustainability of its activities through certification YES Rating®, an index created by ARB SBPA, an innovative start-up based in Trento and a joint-stock benefit company. The index is based on internationally recognized tools such as the SASB Materiality Map (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board), ISO certifications related to sustainability issues, industry best practices and European directives and regulations.

 

This evaluation is the beginning of a journey we chose to undertake two years ago. Thanks to the SI Rating® we will be able to understand, from time to time, what actions to take to improve and increase our commitment to greater environmental, social and governance sustainability.

TH Resorts got one score of 70 out of 100 on ESG criteria (Environmental, Social and Governance) included in the Objectives of the 2030 UN Agenda on sustainable development.

As a company operating in the tourism sector, we feel the responsibility to make a concrete contribution to the many social and environmental challenges that characterize today's context.

Tackling poverty

We support AVSI's international cooperation activities. In 2002 the charity initiative was born in Padua “Santa Lucia dinner” with the aim of raising funds for humanitarian projects in collaboration with the non-profit organization AVSI. The TH group has been among the promoters of the event since the beginning, which in recent editions has attracted around 1000 participants. This year the theme of the AVSI fundraiser is “We want peace”.

We support Banco Alimentare's business through the donation of food surpluses which are delivered to over 8.000 charitable organizations which assist 2 million people in Italy. Since 2019 we have donated the equivalent of 57.000 meals.
• We valorise the disused equipment present in the various TH structures, through the donation to Charity organisations.

Help create value

• We facilitate thesocial inclusion and economical progress in the communities with which TH Resorts interacts.

• We support initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the weakest groups.

• Let's break down cultural barriers by working from 2021 in partnership with the Allianz Foundation HUMAN MIND who chose our hotels to host families with children suffering from rare syndromes.
The "Hol4All" project aims to offer a unique holiday, capable of regenerating all family members.

Involve customers in the sustainability process

• We enhance the environmental heritage by making our guests aware ofresponsible use of resources (water, energy, food) and the containment of pollution.

• We promote well-being and we promote a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

• We promote the knowledge and respect for culture
and the territory of the localities in which we are present.

Integrate sustainability into supply chain management

We prefer localization of supplies.

• We develop partnerships with companies committed to responsible management of the supply chain. Since 2018 we support the activities of the Giotto pastry shop which operates inside the Padua prison giving work to prisoners with a regular employment contract and thus reducing the risk of recidivism. From them we buy all the desserts used in breakfast.

Respect food balances

• We favor ahealthy nutrition.

• We transfer i values ​​of the Mediterranean diet and there
we are committed to making its flavors appreciated.

We limit food waste starting from the phase
of making the dishes.

Valuing human capital and providing learning opportunities

We offer specific training courses to develop skills and innovation in the "hospitality" sector.

• We set up together with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti la Italian School of Hospitality Foundation and, together with the University of Venice Ca' Foscari, launched the first degree course in “Hospitality Innovation and e-tourism”. The course today is at third academic year, counts 150 members and it's entirely in English language. The objective of the initiative: to relaunch the tourism and hospitality sector in the area and reduce the discrepancy between the needs of companies in the sector and the skills of workers.

• For TH Resorts, human capital is of fundamental importance, which is why we have established the TH Academy, our annual training program that aims to develop employee skills, improve the quality of service offered to guests and promote a strong and cohesive company culture. 

Protect biodiversity and respect the different ecosystems

• We enhance the environmental heritage by raising awareness among our customers and young generations through information activities aimed at safeguarding the environment and surrounding nature with good sustainable living practices.

• We contribute to the protection of nature and the marine environment also by serving products from sustainable and MSC certified fishing at the table.

Minimize the impact generated on the environment

• We favor the procurement of electricity from renewable sources which represents 100% of our supplies.

• We contribute to protect water resources, rationalizing water consumption also through customer awareness.

• We select suppliers holding certifications of environmental quality.

• We have activated a system of collection some waste. Recycling islands have been created and waste compactors have been installed.

• We have significantly reduced the use of plastic through the elimination of disposable plastic tableware: glasses, straws, plates, cutlery, have been replaced with biodegradable and compostable products in all our facilities. We have reduced the consumption of plastic bottles through the introduction of water and drinks managed on tap.

• For years now, TH has banned balloon flying from its facilities.

• We have replaced normal detergents with ECOLABEL certified products and with concentrated dosing systems.

• We have replaced the courtesy lines of our guests with ECOLABEL certified cosmetic products.

 

• We are progressively implementing the use of electric means of transport within our facilities where we are installing electric charging stations for guests.
